Boren Scholarship
I was featured on the Boren Scholarship blog! I sent in this picture to update Boren about my speech competition at National Chengchi University where I talked about using mushrooms as a means to break down crude oil pollution.
How I Started My JourneyI decided that I wanted to major in Mandarin Chinese in 2010 when I came back from CIEE in Beijing at Peking University. The language simply captivated me and gave me a deeper understanding of the country and culture. I wanted to continue studying it, but I didn't know how to fund it.
Thanks to the generous grants offered by NSEP Boren Scholarship, Page Education Foundation, Pell Grant, St. Thomas and CIEE, I'm able to study in Taiwan. I'm truly living my dream, and you can too! Feel free to contact me, I'm always willing to help a fellow student. UpdatesJanuary 26, 2015
I am currently on a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Sukhothai, Thailand! My dreams are being reached and I'm getting closer to my purpose in life every year. I am so blessed to have these opportunities. In this upcoming year, I will apply for a fellowship and a Masters program in Public Policy. I got accepted into Yale University for a Master of Public Health, but I've found a new calling for the Foreign Service. You can check out more of my journey on Wordpress, and you can contact me at [email protected]. June 18, 2016 In March, I was accepted into the Master in Public Policy program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Starting fall of 2016, I will be embarking on a career in international development through learning econometrics, policy issues, negotiation, and how to help solve some of our greatest global issues. In addition, I was able to earn the USAID Donald M. Payne International Development Fellowship which offers incredible and generous financial help to finance guide me into become a future USAID Foreign Service Officer. Best regards, Kayden Hoang Bui |
My Goal
I hope this site can function as both a way for me to communicate with my friends and family, as well as a place where I can record my experiences as I grow and mature into a young man.
Everyone should have their own memories, and it'll be a waste if all your great stories go untold! I was 21 when I started editing this, but I hope to continue this well into my graduate school/career. People who know me knows that I love traveling and learning new languages. I hope spending an entire year in Taiwan will raise my level from high-intermediate to high-advanced or post-advanced. In the future, I hope to intern for the Carnegie for International Development in D.C., then get a Fulbright grant to Thailand to complete either a research grant or an ETA. I am determined to be fluent in 4 languages by the time I'm 25, and I will continue to work towards creating change for underrepresented populations in China and Southeast Asia through my work and education. |
